The original iPad mini, first released in 2012, is now considered a 'Vintage' product. Apple updated its list of vintage and obsolete products to include the 7.9-inch tablet earlier today. The company also marked the 2011 21.5-inch iMac as obsolete.
Vintage products are those that have not been sold for more than 5 and less than 7 years ago. Mac, iPhone, iPad, iPod, and Apple TV vintage products continue to receive hardware service from Apple service providers, including Apple Retail Stores, subject to availability of inventory, or as required by law.
Once a product hasn't been sold for seven years, Apple will consider it 'Obsolete'.
