Code references found in an early build of iOS 14 reveal that only the iPhone 12 Pro will feature a time-of-flight (ToF) sensor, reports 9to5Mac.
iOS 14 code seen by 9to5Mac includes details about new iPhones with the codename “d5x”. These are probably the new 2020 iPhones, as the iPhone 11 line-up is identified by “d4x”. Only two of these new models are listed with a built-in time-of-flight sensor, This leads us believe we’re talking about the iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max.
A time-of-flight camera system determines the distance between the camera and subject for each point of the image by measuring the time it takes for a laser or LED light signal to leave the camera and reflect back.
