Apple confirmed that this year's new iPhone models will arrive later than usual during its Q3 FY20 earnings call today.
"As you know, last year we started selling new iPhones in late September," Apple CFO Luca Maestri said. "This year, we project supply to be available a few weeks later."
A delayed release for the iPhone 12 has been rumored for months. Qualcomm even hinted at it in their earnings yesterday. It's unusual for Apple to acknowledge a product delay; however, the coronavirus shutdowns have had significant effect on supply chains.
